“I was so disappointed with the academics at this school I had to take my child someplace else. I was told that the other children would eventually 'catch up' to her - meaning that she should sit and not learn anything for a period of time. It's a shame because the parent involvement at this school is wonderful. The new school has been fabulous and eye opening to how much kids can love school when they are challenged. They need to raise the academics at this school - I know many parents that have left for the same reasons.”

“My kids have been in different schools in the state and all I can say is that South Olive Elementary School is 2nd to none!!!! I cannot put my finger on what make the school so great, it must be the hard working parents/ community working with the teachers as one! “This school does not accept teacher requests, but don't think I'm complaining. With one entering 3rd grade, and one entering kindergarten, we are very confident that the principal and staff will make classroom assignments based on the best match for our children. The oldest is looking forward to the new team teaching format. She thinks all the third grade teachers are great choices, and is thrilled to have several of them instead of just one. For an 8 year old to have that outlook for her upcoming school year, the school is doing things right! We have had a wonderful three years with the first child, and are excited about starting our second child at this great school. Thank you, South Olive, for providing a quality educational and social experience for our kids.”

“I love this school. I am especially pleased with the principal, Mr. Smith. He seems to really care and is totally in touch with the kids. He is very approachable. My daughter is in second grade, and loves to get up in the morning to go to school. The after-care program next door at South Olive Community Center is also exceptional!”

“If they had sixth grade at South Olive I would stay. Teachers are great, a gifted program is offered, and learning is made fun. If you are looking for a great school you found it!”

“Excellent school. I am a teacher myself; this school has so much parental involvement. My two sons have attended s. Olive throughout their childhood and it is the best. It is very safe! The students learn the school recognizes their students, the gifted program is the best: mrs. Bell, mrs. Cebollero, mrs. Matrow, mr. Horton. Great teachers!”

“The gifted program is an excellent program for students who qualify. Unfortunatley the music, art, sports, and guidance program called 'specials' happen on a five day rotating basis for 45 minutes each. There is an extremely high level of parental involvement. I highly recommend this school for students interested in excelling.”

“My daughter has attended South Olive for two years. This year I have been very pleased with the academic progress she has made. The school has excellent programs for helping new ones adjust to the environment. We considered private schools in the area, but prefered South Olive over them.”

“This has been a wonderful school for my daughter! She was in the gifted program so we had to drive her a little way to the school but well worth it. Mrs. Bell (K) was a loving, caring, teacher with an incredible gift to give her students. She is the teacher we will always remember! If you are lucky enough to have Mr. Van Deurson for music your in for a treat!”

“South Olive is a great school that provide the highest academic standard programs to all students! The school provides an excellent aftercare program that includes; sports, chess, chorus, art, video, and academic clubs! The parents are dedicated and hard working. Overall, the school is rated A+!”
