The only reason I stay at Forest Hill is because of the wonderful JROTC and Hospitality program.

I love Forest Hill High School. It is the best school ever. I would not go to any other school. I take advantage of every opportunity at school and am involved in sports and a million extra curriculars. The clubs at school are countless and include everything from the Japanese Club to Aspira. The JROTC program rocks!

i think this school is really good because of the rotc program they have.

I attended this school (alum 06) and so did my mother (alum 76). This school gave me the proper skills I needed to excel in College and graduated magna cum laude. The only thing I wish this school offered was more AP classes.

What people fail to realize is that Forest Hill is an urban school that face disadvantages from the get-go. A portion the Student body is comprised of a lot of immigrants that do not speak English, students having to provide for their families, and students how come to school for free lunch or because their parents force them. Then you have the majority that actually that come to school for the benefits of a good education that are over shadowed by the few bad apples. With those overwhelming obstacles, the school receives numerous accolades each year; such as being named as one of the top 1 percent of schools in the nation for two straight years. Beating out schools like Royal Palm and Wellington, and numerous others who didn t even make the list. This school has a lot to offer; IB, Environmental Science Academy, Engineering Academy, Culinary Arts Academy, J.R.O.T.C.

(contiuation)and the Tourism and Hospitality Academy. That stated I think one of the best things about the Hill is it s faculty! The faculty goes over and beyond what the state/district requires and what most parents expect of them. Some of the best teachers at the school are: Mrs. Saarela- Student Government and AP Government, Mr. Jourgensen- Journalism/Communications, Mr. Stoieff- Social studies/Law, Ms. Lazier- AP literature, and Dr. Holt- (who is sadly retiring) AP Human Geography/ AP literature. I think what will make this school better is if more parents get involved, which will in return get students involved. All this school needs is more school spirit, better sports involvement, and some support from its community. These where some of the best years of my life (Class of 09!) and I hope that more people will enjoy this school as much as I did. GO FALCONS! -Alex J.

the school suffers from morale issues and because much of the student body hails from families where parents expect very little from their child's education a never ending cycle is perpetuated. if as a parent you've not had the good fortune of an education, how then, can you be the judge of what constitutes one? while much of the student body looks menacing,it seems that they are on very tight ropes where disipline is concerned. my child is in the i.b. program, does not fit the typical look of the greater student body, and has reported very little in the way of violence. my child has said that the quality of i.b. student is surprisingly mixed. presumambly, many of those students drop-out by eleventh grade. regarding teachers and faculty you 're dealing ,again, with a mixed bag. some, like dr.holt, are excellent and to be commended highly for going above and beyond. sadly, others lack a great deal.

As a parent of two students that currently go to Forest Hill, I have to say that I am very disappointed in the education that they are receiving. Hailing from New England where the educational system is highly exemplary, I am very discouraged at the level of learning that is currently the standard at Forest Hill. The staff focuses so much time on preparing for the FACT. What about the students who have already passed the FACT with flying colors? Why should they have to sit through 6 months of preparation for a test that they have already passed? Instead, they sit in class and go through the same mundane exercises day after day, when they should be learning about the next topic in the curriculum. Maybe the guidance counselors should step in and do their job -- counsel students so that the rest can get the education that they deserve!

Forest Hill Community High School is probably the 'ONLY' excellent public high school in FL. The treachers are great, they have control over the kids and there is nothing negative about the school.

I am currently a senior at the school and I am very involved with it. The school is not the problem, the kids are. Over 75% of the student body is composed by students that don't really give a damn about themselves, and that hold everyone else back. The FCAT is not a hard test to pass if you listen to what the teachers tell you to do. Most teachers are very dedicated are really care about the students. All we need is for those students that don't care to go somewhere else, then we will be perfect. There are plenly of after school activities that all students could get involved in.

nice and educated teachers and good atmosphere for students to learn. there are some detractions and nonsense by some uncaring students

almost perfect for an urban school

I am currently a senior at Forest Hill. To be completely honest Forest Hill isn't so bad of a school. Although we didn't have any pep rallies or dances to keep our school spiit, the teachers are great. They really do care about the students and their success.

I love my school, it is truly a great place. I feel safe, and I really connect with the teachers. The environmental academy is top quality. It is the most fun I have ever had in school. They go on field trips etc. Which are educational and a blast. Many hands-on projects in the classroom too. Again the teachers are the best. You have more work in the academy, but you learn to manage your time, which is so important in college. I have been in the academy 3 years of highschool and I adore the teachers and have made awesome friends. Outside of the academys it is a bit different, and I would recommend, if you are joining, to join one of the academys. The band is great, chorus, sports, all awesome. This school is really fun and I have learned alot from the people who are there.

I cannot believe how much this school has grown in the past few years, and I was slightly afraid of the high number of students in the school but my son graduated with a lot of friends and a lot of honors. I am proud to say that he came from Forest Hill High School.

Forest Hill High School is a public high school on the rise. As FCAT scores improve a new International Baccalaureate Program is in the works. The school is sensitive to cultural differences as its majority is hispanic. Also, the school is currently being rebuilt on the same site. This is going to upgrade the science and technology facilities significantly. Forest Hill has risen from a F school in 2002 to a C school in 2003. The recently released FCAT scores for 2004 indicate a possible rise in the school's grade again.

I have some serious concerns regarding the moral in this school. The environment is not conducive to learning. The level of safety is compromised and the majority of the students do not care about school or getting an education. It seems that much is tolerated and this tolerance is not good enough for the kids who are there to learn and who come from homes where they are receiving positive reinforcement. The dress code should be addressed.

I am a student here at Crestwood Middle School. I received the great education here. The teachers and principals are great.

Forest Hill doesnt have enough direction. We seem to be late on ways to do things and how things are handled. Rarelu do I ever see anything running smoothly. (FCAT days were a total mess up) Forest Hill has great disciplined students and educated teachers. At 'The Hill' you will be able to inquire fun with education. (sometimes without even knowing it) Personally, I love Forest Hill. I dont see myself anywhere else. And by the way I'm a Straight A honor student who feels really lucky to be challenged by my teachers everyday and whom I know care for me as a student and a person. (Kudos to Ms. Cruz and Ms. Tabernilla!)

The teachers and administrators do the best with what the county(funding & resources) and students(attitude & participation) give to them. You cannot make a student learn if they don't want to. Also too much attentoin is payed on FCAT success. The parents should be the ones blamed for this attitude problem among students. That's the only thing wrong with Forest Hill High.

this school has extrememly ineffective leadership and is very unstable--it would be risky to send a child there

How could this school have an above average for teacher turn over when over 23 teachers with 15=+ years were excessed from this school this past year. I give this school a very low mark because of the leadership
